CAD Qualifications
CBSL are in the process of obtaining recognised qualifications for all of our 2 or 3 day training courses. The qualifications will be accredited to a National Qualification body that will be responsible for issuing all awards.

These should be available from 1st August 2011, although there is nothing to stop delegates from achieving these qualifications if they decide to attend a course earlier.
If you have previously attended one of our courses it may be possible to obtain a qualification.

With the exception of the City & Guilds courses that are several months in duration, we are not aware of any other company that can offer this service. Even so called “accredited” CAD training courses or Autodesk Approved Training centres simply offer an attendance certificate, regardless of the ability.

Around 80% of the coursework will be completed within the duration of the course. The remaining 20%, around 4-6 hours’ work, will be in the form of doing a few simple questions in a workbook and practice exercise on individual commands. There will normally be one small project to complete (up to 1 hours drawing time). You will have up to 1 month from the end of each course to complete this remaining 20% of work. There will be no grades, simply a pass or fail.

Entry Criteria

Entry to our Level 1 Introduction course will be as per our standard entry criteria. This will involve basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, basic commands such as Open, Close, Print, navigate around folders, the use of a mouse and to know the keys on a keyboard such as Shift, Control, Tab, Function Keys etc. Though not necessarily know what the keys do.

If you are already an AutoCAD user that has not been on one of our courses, you will have to achieve our Level 1 Certificate, before attempting our Level 2, Level 3 or 3D qualifications. This can be done by means of some distance learning. People who have attended our Level 1 course previously can go straight to our Level 2, 3 or 3D courses, however they will not be awarded a qualification for the level 1 course. If this is desired then they will still have to complete the coursework for Level 1.

Fees

Depending upon the course you want to do, there will be either 1 or 2 credits awarded. Each credit will be £20, plus a £20 admin fee. These fees will be in addition to our normal course fees.
