Detailed Description
Aims
This course is aimed at AutoCAD users who wish to use their 2D CAD knowledge to create 3D models for design or visualisation purposes. The course will show the delegate how to understand the 3D environment, create & edit 3D shapes and models and simple lighting, camera & rendering techniques. After attending the course delegates would be expected to be able to create various 3D rendered model in a variety of scenes & perspectives.
The benefits of 3D mean that you can start to visualise your designs and how they work in "real space". 2D drawings can be created directly from the 3D model from any direction and hence this actually reduces drafting time as you are creating one 3D model whereas in 2D you tend to create multiple views. Commands such as interference checker can examine your drawing for mistakes, and Live Section creates sections automatically in a variety of multiple planes.
Exceptions
This is a beginners 3D course. The delegate will be introduced to all the basic concepts of how to produce a rendered 3D model but they will not be given instruction on advanced techniques. Surface and Mesh modelling are touched upon but not taught in any depth. All of the images in our 3D gallery can be produced with the commands in this course.
AutoCAD has no 3D functionality (except for viewing) and hence LT users should only attend if they are planning to upgrade, to gain a qualification or just to further their knowledge of AutoCAD.
What to expect
We limit all our courses to a maximum of just five people so that you can have quality time with the instructor. The instructor is an AutoCAD Certified Professional and Associate and an apprentice trained draughtsman with CAD experince since 1984 and Technical drawing experience since 1981. When not training we are a working bureau which means that we "practice what we preach" and quite often can show examples of your industry related drawings that we have done for our customers.
All of our courses come with a
Free Unlimited Lifetime E-mail Support and 12 month telephone support and include all materials, refreshments and pub lunch. Our course manual is 366 pages long and includes hundreds of colour examples and class files examples that you can still do after you finish the course. This is available in electronic PDF format or in printed format for a small fee. A Sample can be viewed by

Qualifications
We can offer an optional accreditation for this course for a small additional fee. You will have to attend for the full three days to achieve the qualification, the 2 day option is not available.
If you decide not to take the qualification you will still receive an attendance certificate.
For further details about our qualification please click on "
CAD Qualification" under the CAD Training header at the top of this page.
Your Experience
Delegates should be familiar with working in AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT. You do not have to attend our Levels 2 or 3 courses, you can go striaght from our Level 1 to this 3D course. We would however, recommend a minimum of three months recent continual experience before attending this course.
Duration
The duration is 3 days but we can reduce this to 2 days by omitting animation, materials, lighting and rendering. The first two days concentrate on how to design and "model" your 3D object(s), therefore if you want to use AutoCAD for this purpose only you do not have to attend the third day. The third day concentrates on the "output" for a 3D model such as creating Photo Realistic images and visualisation. This third day can always be done as a sepearate 1 day course later, especially if getting time off work is an issue.
Courses are run three times a year depending upon demand. 1 to 1 courses can be arranaged at any time to suit both parties.
Location
All our courses take place in our offices in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex where we have all the facilities software and PC's configured to compliment our courseware. We can train at your workplace but this sometimes does incur problems.
